This tutorial shows the basic 6 steps required to create rich and informative multi-layered timelines. Select your time units: The timeline software has a number of different time units ranging from millions of years BC through to a few minutes. There are even Distance and Step options should you find a need for them.
Create your timeline Events: Create Events to be shown on the timeline - if required, Events can text & images saved to them. Create as many Events as you require (many, 100s if required), in any order.
Showing Timeline: With Events added the timeline can be displayed. For simple timelines the 'Show All' button will displayed all Events within the database.
Adjust the timeline display: Adjust the layout using drag ā Nā drop to achieve the ideal layout. Event detail is accessed by clicking on Events.

Using Multi-layered timelines: As the timeline grows, it becomes difficult to show everything all the time. It's now time to divide the timeline into a number of 'Views' and create a multi-layered timeline. Before you start to create 'Views' you should save your current work - save as the 'Home View' or create a new 'View'. Read more about Views Creating Views: To create a multi-layered timeline, use the search feature to search the database for selected Events. Searches can be via Groups to show all the Events within selected Groups or by individual Keywords. For very larger databases you can created complicated searches involving Time, Keyword & within selected Groups.
Selected Events displayed: Having searched the database, only a subset of the total Events are displayed. This forms a mini timeline containing selected Events, or a zoomed-in period of time dependant upon the search criteria. This mini-timeline is called a 'View' and can be saved as part of the main timeline file. You can create as many 'Views' as you require. With large and complicated subjects the Home View can act as a summary, with seperate Views showing details and time zoomed close-ups. The timeline below shows the testing plan of a number of Prototype vehicles during a new motor vehicle development phase. Clicking on the Views links from within the Views drop down list will display the View details; in this case the Home summary View; the test usage of Prototype1 and the tests the Calibration Department will be carring out over the entire project period.
